Girls Hurdles
100 Meter Hurdles With the graduation of 2013 State Champion Sasha Wallace, the 100 hurdles are ready for a new state leader to emerge, and California has a deep, talented field to supply one. Daria Cook of Vacaville has the fastest returning time with a 13.74 PR. Cook took second in the state final, and was the SJS D1 Finals Champion and SJS Masters champion. She also won the Sacramento State Classic. Vacaville teammate Pattriana Perry finished in third at state with a 13.87 PR, and figures to challenge for top honors in the state this year as well. Perry had some impressive wins at Stanford and West Coast Relays. Challenging the Vacaville duo are Southern Section leaders Jasmyne Graham of Roosevelt and Kymber Payne of Long Beach Poly. Graham is the Southern Section D1 Champion and Inland Empire Champion, and brings a 13.77 PR from the Great Southwest post-season meet last June. Payne also has an impressive PR from Great Southwest at 13.82, and had big wins of her own at the Redondo Invitational and the Trabuco Hills Invitational. Behind our four pre-season leaders, there is a pack of talented girls with PRs in the low 14's. The 100 hurdles will be one to watch as always.

300 Hurdles Though 2013 state champion Jade Miller has graduated, California returns the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place finishers from the state finals. Kymber Payne of Long Beach Poly is clear pre-season favorite in the event, with a PR of 41.32 which is the #2 returning time in the nation. Payne was in the same section and division as Miller (SS D1), and chaulked up no less that six second place finishes to Miller last year. But coming into her senior year, she could well claim the top spot not only in California, but in the country. Junior Hannah Labrie-Smith of Cathedral Catholic is Payne's closest rival over 300 meters, with a PR of 42.27 which she registered at the CIF State Prelims. Labrie-Smith was also the SDS Finals Champion and won the Jaguar Invitational. Pattriana Perry of Vacaville, the 4th place finisher at State, has to be conisdered a threat with wins at SJS Masters, West Coast Relays, and Sacramento Meet of Champions. Finally, junior Morganne Hill of Liberty (Bakersfield) is also a legitimate threat with a 42.43 PR, and a Central Section Championship. Hill is also a standout at the flat 400, and had the range to lead her team at the state cross country championships last fall as well.
After six second place finishes to Jade Miller in 2013, Kymber Payne enters to 2014 season as the favorite
